Greetings!

Wow, what a night! Clash of the Titans was a huge hit. Those who were in attendance were treated to a wonderful evening filled with lots of laughter and a great deal of fun. I want to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to all who were involved with making the evening so successful. Thank you to all the volunteers, faculty, and staff who worked so hard to make the evening unforgettable. I am awed by your talent and commitment.

Thank you to all who attended the event. Your presence was greatly appreciated. And finally, thank you to the amazing chefs who competed with such skill and expertise. You all are so impressive and winners! I know it is not nearly adequate to express how grateful I am but please accept my deepest thank you.

How to pre-register for classes for the 2012-2013 Academic Year

Online at www.WMA.us/preregistration, you will find information to assist you in understanding how you, in coordination with your child’s advisor, can help in the course selection process. You will find answers to your questions regarding:

  1. Pre-registration calendar
  2. General Instructions for Selecting Classes on PowerSchool
  3. Diploma Requirements
  4. Normal Course Progression by Department
  5. Course Descriptions

If you have questions about your child’s course selection, contact their advisor first. Your child will be working closely with their advisor to select classes and you, as the parent, are an important part of the pre-registration process.

Tell a friend about WMA

We have found that many of our applicants and new students have a connection to a current student at our school, and we strongly believe that existing WMA families are among our most valuable referral resources. It is in everyday parent-to-parent or student-to-student conversation that interest in WMA is generated. If your child is happy and thriving here, we appreciate your sharing that with your friends and neighbors. Feel free to invite them to a school game, event, or activity so they can see us in action.

Final Exams for Underclassmen

As the final trimester of the 2011-2012 academic year comes to an end, students and teachers are anticipating exam week, May 29 through June 1. This year, most students will take exams in each of their core classes, generally CEGS, mathematics, English/ESL, science, and a foreign language.

In the end we want our students to have a positive experience with exams. We believe a thoughtful approach to exam preparation now will best serve students in the years to come – be they on the campus of WMA or the college or university they have their hearts set on. We appreciate the encouragement and support you give your children at this often-stressful time.

TOEFL Course and Testing on Campus

The Office of the International Student Program is very excited to announce two initiatives to begin in September for our international students, an on-campus TOEFL prep course and on-campus TOEFL administration.

Princeton Review will offer the course to begin in early September and conclude in mid-October, in time for students to take the test and get results for early decision applications.

Each student will receive all of the following Princeton Review Course materials:

  • Princeton Review’s TOEFL Manual (including 7 full-length workbooks)
  • 7 audio CDs
  • 4 online tests (CBTs – for skill based practice)
  • 2 additional IBT Tests
  • 6 library drill sets

For optimal benefit, the students will test immediately after the last class.

Beginning in September, WMA will be designated as an authorized TOEFL test center, so there will be no long rides for our international students before the tests!

If you have any questions about this new program, please contact Gayle Hsiao.

Relay For Life

Join us Saturday, May 19 for our annual Greater Wilbraham Relay For Life.

Currently, we are looking for survivors to participate in our survivor lap and team members to help organize and fundraise for the event. Please contact Brianna Goncalves for more information or to get involved.

Making Travel Arrangements

For your convenience, an updated list of travel dates can be found online.

Parents, please remember, if your son or daughter is a boarding student, you must give him/her permission to leave school for vacations, even if they are going home for the break. If they are not going home, please be specific about where they are going and with whom.
