John Tierney '15 competes at two elite boys' lax tournaments

Wilbraham & Monson Academy's John Tierney '15 had a very good spring on the lacrosse field.

His summer has been even better.

Not only has John played in a pair of high-level events since the end of school, he's been just one of a handful of players in the Class of 2015 to have been invited.

John played in the Prep School Lacrosse Showcase at the Brunswick School in Greenwich, Conn., June 4. The event attracted 260 of the top uncommitted boys' lacrosse players in the northeast.

ESPNHS Lacrosse attended the tournament. Based on input from coaches, John was just one of two freshmen ESPNHS Lacrosse noted as top players in the Class of 2015, publishing: “Strong and athletic, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound Tierney was big on ground balls throughout the day. The middie is able to get out of a dodge, get his hands free and quickly get off a shot in traffic.”

An even bigger honor came a few weeks later when John was selected to play for Team New England at the Brine National All-American Lacrosse Classic in Maryland June 30-July 3. John assisted on the winning goal against Team Australia and scored against Tennessee. John and his Team New England group also played against Pennsylvania and Virginia.

“It was such an honor to be selected to a team with so much talent,” said John, 15, who was the only incoming sophomore on Team New England. “I was proud to represent New England.”
