Myles Cecchetelli '14 wins another soccer medal at Bay State Games

Wilbraham & Monson Academy’s Myles Cecchetelli ’14 didn’t win a soccer gold medal at the 2013 Bay State Games like he did two years ago, but any hardware from the statewide event is good hardware. Myles played in the middle of the field all tournament for the West to help his team claim the bronze medal in Waltham July 14.

“It was definitely a good experience,” Myles said. “If you go there you might as well try to win something. We grinded it out and we battled all the way. To come out with a bronze medal was good. We played hard.”

Myles played predominantly center midfield for the West, and also saw some action at center back. He assisted on the game-tying goal against Northeast, and he buried a penalty kick to force a tie against Coastal and place the West in the bronze medal game.

“Playing in the Bay State Games is special because you see all these kids from Western Massachusetts who you have never talked to and then you’re on a team with them,” Myles explained. “The first game you don’t know everyone’s name but by the last game you’re celebrating with all of them. I came away with good friends and a good weekend of soccer. It was a fun experience.”
