The Titans took on a strong Alabama team this morning. American Christian Academy from Tuscaloosa played well throughout and came away with a 12-2 win. The combination of too many walks and key hits by ACA led to no less than six unearned runs in the first inning. Luke Pelletier pitched well in relief.
After a morning practice and some time at the Disney parks tomorrow, the Titans will return home in the evening. It has been a rewarding trip, filled with sun, fun, good camaraderie and quality baseball. We look forward to the opening of the 2012 Western New England Prep Baseball League play on April 4th.

The Titans dropped the season opener last night, 8-0, to a solid Providence Day School club from Charlotte, NC. After a five-hour rain delay, play got underway at 9:45 p.m. and wrapped up just after midnight. Ryan Early struggled a bit in the first inning with pitch location, yielding four runs on three walks and a couple of timely hits in the first inning. Early settled down nicely, however, limiting Providence to just one more hit and no runs for the next four innings. The Titans were disciplined in their approach at the plate, managing to load the bases in both the first and fifth innings; however, timely hits were elusive.
The Titans opened the day today with an 8:00 am game versus Olive Branch High School from Olive Branch, MS. Plating three runs in the top of the first on consecutive singles by Mike Mendes and Robinson Vilmont, and a two-run RBI single from Ben Marcus, the Titans jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Olive Branch responded in kind by tying the score in the bottom half of the inning. Ben Marcus struggled with his control and gave up 7 runs, 4 unearned, before leaving in the fourth inning. In the end, it was not the Titans day and they lost by a score of 12-3.
We look ahead to tomorrow for our final Florida game against a talented American Christian Academy from Tuscaloosa, AL at 10:30 a.m. Senior Matt Robbins will start for the Titans.

WMA Titans Baseball arrived safely at the Disney ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando for our 2012 Spring Training.
The boys are excited and have worked hard in the several practices thus far. The facilities are exceptional, drawing teams from across the country coming together to compete and practice.
One of the more talented teams is the Atlanta Braves, whose spring training home stadium is located on the campus. Following our morning practice yesterday, we enjoyed a Braves vs. Yankees game at 1:00 p.m. Although the Yanks won, we enjoyed a great afternoon of professional baseball.
The Titans open the season tonight against Providence Day School from Charlotte, NC at 6:30 p.m. Ryan Early ('12) will take the mound in search of his first Titans win.
