Jessica Hambley is regarded as one of the region's all-time great high school basketball players. The South Hadley High School graduate finished her career with 2,069 points, which is one of the highest point totals in state history. Her senior season, she shared the Vi Goodnow Award, which is awarded to the area's best girls' basketball player.
Hambley received a full academic and athletic scholarship to attend St. Michael's College, where she was a four-year starter. She finished with more than 1,000 points and 500 assists. Her senior year, she ranked No. 3 in assists for all divisions throughout the country.
Hambley coached two seasons of JV basketball at Chicopee Comprehensive High School before coaching two years at the varsity level. She had four winnings seasons at Comp, leading the varsity team to the tournament in both seasons.
