The Mark R. Shenkman Trading Center will be formally dedicated on Friday, June 5 at 4:00 p.m. by Head of School Rodney LaBrecque, Mr. Shenkman, and President of Wesleyan University, Michael S. Roth. Dr. Roth has been president of his alma mater for nearly two years. He is the 16th president at Wesleyan, the first having been Rev. Wilbur Fisk, who was principal of Wesleyan Academy, one of the two schools forming the basis of Wilbraham & Monson Academy, from 1825-1831.
Thanks to the generosity and foresight of Mark Shenkman, Wilbraham & Monson Academy students now have the opportunity for hands-on experience in the stock market and global financial markets. A 1961 graduate of Monson Academy celebrating his 40th year on the Academy Board of Trustees, Shenkman is the founder and president of Shenkman Capital Management in New York City.
The mission of the Mark R. Shenkman Trading Center, the first to be opened at the high-school level, is to raise students’ understanding of global finance through hands-on trading experience and research and to expose them to a dynamic real-world financial environment.
