Wilbraham & Monson Academy Head of School Rodney LaBrecque announced Thursday, February 18 the June retirement of Athletic Director Skip Jarocki and the appointment of current Director of Alumni & Development Don Nicholson as his successor.
Jarocki came to the Academy in 1996 from the University of Pennsylvania, where he had served as Associate Athletic Director for ten years. He has been instrumental in the development of the Academy’s athletic program and played a major role in determining the design and functionality of the expanded Athletic Center, dedicated in 2007. In his remarks before the student body, LaBrecque praised Jarocki’s devotion to the glory of athletic involvement. He said, “Skip Jarocki is the ultimate team player. We are lucky to have been the recipient of his skill and devotion.”
Nicholson, who will succeed Jarocki as Athletic Director, is a member of the WMA Class of 1979. After graduating from Keene State College, he returned to the Academy where he has most recently served as Director of Alumni & Development and head coach of our outstanding Girls’ Varsity Soccer team. His other positions have included history teacher and chair of that department, head dorm parent of Rich Hall and Wallace Blake, and coach of six other teams including various levels of basketball, lacrosse, soccer, and swimming & diving. Both of Nicholson’s children are graduates of the Academy.
A nationwide search is presently underway for the position of Director of Alumni & Development at the Academy.
