Commencement ceremonies speaker

Wilbraham & Monson Academy is pleased to announce that Ambassador Hyun Chong Kim will be the speaker at Commencement ceremonies to be held at 10:00 a.m. on May 29. After a nearly fifteen-year career in government service to the Republic of Korea, Kim is currently president and chief legal officer at Samsung Electronics Co., LTD.

Ambassador Kim holds a B.A. in political science from Columbia College, an M.A. in political science from the Columbia University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and a J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law. He is a member of the New York Bar. His legal experience on the global stage is wide ranging, including positions as assistant professor at Hongik University, attorney at the World Trade Organization, Trade Minister at the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Korean Ambassador to the United Nations.

Ambassador Kim, a member of the Wilbraham & Monson Academy Class of 1977, is also a Trustee of the Academy. His older son Minsang, a member of the Class of 2010, will matriculate to Harvard University next fall. Kim resides in Korea with his wife Mrs. Geum Jin Kang and their younger son Ethan Jisang Kim.
