Mark R. Shenkman Trading Center
The Mark R. Shenkman Trading Center, donated by Mark R. Shenkman '61, offers students the opportunity to use a state-of-the-art facility to engage in an active research and trading experience in order to gain understanding of the global financial environment.
The center allows the hands-on engagement of a lab environment to be brought into the social sciences. Students will follow a scientific method of research, developing new skills demanded of all citizens in a globalized economy as well as reinforcing traditional research, analysis and writing skills in a new environment.
In addition, the real-time applications of the center give more opportunities for students to see the interconnectedness of their actions to others and how decisions made by them and by global institutions can have profound effects on local and international populations.
WMA installs Bloomberg terminal in the Mark R. Shenkman Trading Center
On September 5, 2012 WMA installed a Bloomberg terminal at the Mark R. Shenkman Trading Center becoming the first prep school and the only high school in the nation to have a bloomberg terminal. Students will now be able to access proprietary and public information/media, to enhance, supplement or develop salient research focused on world business news both current and archived.
"As Director of The Shenkman Trading Center, our decision to go with the Bloomberg terminal is exciting," said Harold Sands of WMA. "Coupled with the support Bloomberg is giving us, it will allow WMA to open new doors to our student body." The terminals will give students access to 55,000 news stories daily, and allow them to gain experience similar to that of 350 Colleges and Universities across the country that offer this service.
