Shacor Privott '14 attends Top 100 football combine
When some of the best football players on the east coast met for a one-day combine in Delaware June 16, Wilbraham & Monson Academy’s Shacor Privott ’14 was among them.
After a strong performance at a combine in Connecticut in the summer of 2011, Shacor was invited to attend the National Underclassmen Top 100 East for football players in the Class of 2014.
“We did all of our testing: vertical and broad jump, 40 yard dash and bench press,” said Shacor, a 6-foot-2, 236 pound linebacker. “When we went outside we got split up by position to do position work, and at the end of the day we competed in a tournament of 7v7.
“It was a good eye-opener for me. There were kids from Virginia, Delaware and all over. Down south they practice football pretty much all year. It was an eye-opener to see what was out there across the country. This helped me hone in and motivated me for my summer workouts.”
Shacor is also motivated for WMA’s 2012 football schedule to begin. The Titans suffered through a losing season a year ago, and Shacor said he’s had enough of that.
“I’m really excited about the upcoming season,” said Shacor, who has his bench press up to 350 pounds. “We have a good group of guys – guys who want to listen and buy in and who are willing to work. I’m an only child, and last year we were little brothers to some schools and they beat up on us. I don’t like that and we’re going to change that.”
