A Commitment to Excellence

The girls' soccer program has a long history of success and has enjoyed a winning season each year since 1997. We belong to the Women's Western New England Prep School Soccer Association (WWNEPSSA). We compete in the Class B division of that forty-eight team league. However, we play one third of our games against teams from the Class A division. We are also members of the New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC), and we have qualified for the New England Tournament each year since 1997. This postseason tournament includes teams from all six New England states.

Our commitment to excellence was certainly apparent during the 2010 season as the team finished the regular season ranked #1 out of the forty-eight teams and were named WWNEPSSA League Champions. At the same time, the team earned the WWNEPSSA Class B title.

The girls' soccer program uses the ideals of the Trustees Cup, which they won in 2008, as their model each season. The Trustees Cup is awarded annually to the Academy team best achieving the ideals of interscholastic athletics: a winning record, academic achievement, sportsmanship, team spirit, and leadership off the field.

Fall of 2013

The 2013 team experienced a successful season, finishing with a final record of 9-6-2. Victories over Westminster, Deerfield, Pomfret, Berkshire and Suffield were certainly highlights. Although the Titans saw their season end in the quarterfinals of the New England Prep School Championship Soccer Class B Tournament, the girls should be very proud of their accomplishments.

Special thanks to our senior captain Christina Wakefield for her leadership throughout the course of the season. We also wish our other graduating seniors well in all of their future endeavors: Stephanie Bramucci, Julia Winer and Lucrezia Pessina.

Three Titan players were selected to the Women’s Western New England Prep School All-League Team: Christina, Stephanie and Tori Bernardo ’15. Alex Baltazar ’15 was named to the Honorable Mention Team. Christina received additional postseason honors. She was named to the 2013 Massachusetts All-State Team by the Massachusetts Soccer Coaches Association and was selected as a Boston Globe All-Star. Her greatest honor, though, was given by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as the organization selected her as an NSCAA All-Region player.

Fall of 2012

The 2012 team completed a very successful fall season as it secured a final overall record of 11-2-2. The team also won the Womens' Western New England Prep School Soccer Association (WWNEPSSA) Class B Championship for the third year in a row. The squad also qualified for the New England Prep School Championship Tournament.
The season had many highlights as the girls achieved so much as individuals and as a team. Critical wins in very close games with Westminster, Tabor, Williston and Pomfret stand out as great moments in the 2012 campaign.
Thanks to our senior captains for their leadership this fall. Julia Beech, Riley-Jane Marini and Molley Shea provided strong leadership throughout the season. Special thanks to our other seniors for their service to the team: Carly Cronin, Kelsey Gomes, Brianna Kenney, Molly Moran, Alyssa Natario and Brielle Robinson will all graduate as memorable players in our program's history.
Three Titan players were selected to the Womens' Western New England Prep School All-League team. Julia Beech '13 and Carly Cronin '13 joined Christina Wakefield '14 as they played in the WWNEPSSA All-League game Nov. 11. Receiving Honorable Mention votes were Molly Moran '13, Brielle Robinson '13, Molley Shea '13 and Tori Bernardo '15. Christina Wakefield '14 was also selected to the Massachusetts 2012 All-State Team by the Massachusetts State Soccer Coaches Association and the All-Boston Globe Team.

Fall 2011

The 2011 Girls’ Varsity Soccer team concluded the season with an overall record of 9-3-2. The team also captured the Women’s Western New England Prep School Soccer Association (WWNEPSSA) Class B Championship and qualified for the New England Prep School Championship Tournament.

The season was highlighted by victories over traditional rivals Kingswood Oxford, Pomfret, Deerfield, and Suffield. Special thanks to our two senior captains Brianna Goncalves and Emma Hjarne for their leadership throughout the year.Three players were selected to the Women’s Western New England Prep School Soccer All League Team: Julia Beech ’13, Carly Cronin ’13 and Christina Wakefield ’14 represented their school with great honor in this game. Julia Beech was also selected to the Massachusetts 2011 All State Soccer Team by the Massachusetts State Soccer Coaches Association.

Fall 2010 Season

The 2010 Girls' Varsity Soccer Team completed a very successful season with a final record of 14-3-0. This team also secured quite a few honors both for individuals and for the team itself. The season highlights certainly include wins over our traditional rivals, Suffield and Williston. Also, victories over Class A teams Westminster, Northfield Mt. Hermon, and Deerfield were great accomplishments. A great game with Class B rival Pomfret also proved a highlight, as the Titans were forced to come from behind three times in order to win the game. The crowning achievement of the regular season would be a great victory over Class A Loomis-Chaffee, the first time that we have ever beaten Loomis.

The girls earned the Women's Western New England Prep School Soccer Association WWNEPSSA Cup - League Championship as they finished with the top record out of 48 teams. This was the first time in our history that we have ever finished in first place in our league. A historic accomplishment. The girls also secured the WWNEPSSA Class B Championship for winning our division.

Special thanks to our senior captains Jackie Smith, Rachael Kantor, and Brittany Barry for providing us with great leadership. I would also recognize the service of our other seniors Brie Bates, Sara Lawrence, and Brittany McFarlane.

Although our season ended before we had hoped it would, the girls should be extremely proud of all that they have accomplished. As their coach, I am proud of them for challenging themselves individually and as a team. They raised the bar very high this season and for that they should be praised. They will certainly go down in the record books of this soccer program as one of the greatest teams in school history.
