The Titan Field Hockey team had another impressive outing on Wednesday, October 12th, against Cheshire Academy. The lady Titans came out fighting in the first half. The Titan offense tripled their goals on the season. The first goal was scored by Julia Bell and assisted by Richelle Davis. Davis took the initial shot from the top of the circle. Bell tipped the ball around the goalie and into the back of the net. Bell and Davis did not settle for just one goal. Half way through the first half, the Titans earned a corner. Allie Cerpovicz fed a fast paced ball to Davis, and Davis passed to Bell. Bell drove the ball right into the backboards. Bell's second goal put the team up 2-0 at half time.

Despite the offensive efforts of the Wildcats, the Titans' midfield and defensive play was solid. The midfield relied on a constant rotation of players to keep pressure on Cheshire. Hannah Clewes made her first appearance on the field after recovering from an injury. Maddy McCloskey, Maria Waslick, Sam Pajak, and EunVi Jung also saw time for the Titans in the midfield. Teresa Kennedy started the game on defense because a player's injury. She made multiple interceptions and block tackles within the first five minutes of play. Once Hope Williams returned to the game, Kennedy moved up to midfield, and Williams proved to be a pivotal part of the defensive network. Sarah Goolishian, the sweeper, anchored the defense. Goolishian distributed the ball well out of the back field to Vicky Liu and to the midfielders. Gillian Callahan came up with crucial block tackles in the end of the second half to limit Cheshire's scoring opportunities.

With 18:40 left in the second half, the Titans earned another offensive corner. Allie Cerpovicz inserted the ball to Davis who passed the ball to Bell. Bell shot, and the Cheshire goalie made a save. Christine O'Donnell collected the rebound and shot again. Cheshire's goalie made another clear, however she angled the ball right into Cerpovicz's stick. Cerpovicz had a power sweep right into the back of the net.  The Titan defense held strong for the remainder of the game. They allowed only five shots and two corners all game. Marissa McDermott had three saves in the game, and two of them were in the second half. McDermott and her defense earned their first shut-out of the season.
