Dance is available to students of all abilities during the fall, winter and spring semesters. Students learn ballet, modern and jazz. They are required to perform in a choreographed piece in each form of dance at the end of the term. The team engages in improvisation, tumbling, floor work, partnering and choreography. Dancers also have the option of choreographing their own piece in any of the styles, including solos.
The team carries eight to 16 dancers each trimester, with groups performing multiple shows at the end of each marking period. The dancers practice five days per week for 90 minutes each day in the WMA Dance Room in our Athletic Center.
The dance program has been the highlight of my time spent at WMA, and I have grown as a person and a dancer. The people I’ve met through WMA dance are now my lifelong friends, and I will cherish the memories and friendships made through dance.
