Gavin Woolridge '26 named Academic All-American

Wilbraham & Monson Academy’s Gavin Woolridge ’26 performed at an elite level in the classroom and on the lacrosse field this season, so exceptional that he received one of the most prestigious awards a lacrosse player can receive at the high school level.

Gavin was named an Academic All-American last week by the Western New England Prep School Boys Lacrosse Association. Gavin was the only player in Class B to receive that award.

“It was a tremendous honor, the highest honor I could personally ask for,” Gavin said. “I couldn't have done it without the support of both faculty and coaches, as well as the team, who competed every game and practice.”

Gavin played two seasons at the Academy, serving as captain his senior year. He’ll attend and play lacrosse at Hamilton College, where he hopes to major in Economics as well as Data Science.

“Certainly the academic focus here was a major reason I had the opportunity to be placed on the list,” said Gavin, a defenseman. “This year, I got to push myself more in the classroom than I had ever before, and I think it was pivotal to being put up for the award.

“On the field, we had a solid defense all year that gave me the chance to stop some really good competition. The coaching staff kept us pushing in each game to play the right way and continually pushed me to stay at the top of my game.”
