Wilbraham & Monson Academy Softball was established shortly after the merger of the two schools in 1971 and developed substantially after the arrival of Coach Don Kelly in 1977. The team is part of the Western New England Prep School Softball Association (WNEPSSA) and plays a competitive schedule that includes Class A, B and C schools. In the 2010 season, the Titan Softball program earned the fourth seed in the WNEPSSA Class C tournament, reached the final of the Class B tournament in 2014 and won the New England Class B title in 2016.
The focus of the program is on developing solid defense skills, fundamental hitting, and aggressive base running. Through the course of a season, there is strong emphasis placed on developing sustained physical and mental effort, learning to improve individual skills and team performance, and learning how to react positively to mistakes. An essential component of a Titan Softball practice is to build and maximize physical ability. Each day, through practice and training, we look to develop the ten recognized general physical skills: coordination, agility, balance, accuracy, power, speed, flexibility, endurance, stamina, and strength.
Titans Softball is always looking for the opportunity to meet student-athletes who have a strong work ethic in the classroom and on the athletic field, and share with them the opportunities that exist here at WMA. The Academy has a long tradition of academic excellence and very strong college placement, and we have many student-athletes who go on and continue playing their sport in college.
