Crew - Coed Varsity
Wilbraham & Monson Crew team was founded in 2012 by four enthusiastic student-athletes. By 2014, the team was recognized as a varsity sport at the Academy. Today, our team continues to be driven by the enthusiasm of our rowers and coxswains, and sustained by the support of our families, staff, teachers and administration.
We welcome first-year participants or novice, who engage in physical conditioning for the sport, learn the fundamentals of the rowing stroke and begin to develop the cooperation required to row a four-person shell. Experienced oars people continue to build strength and cardiovascular fitness, refine technique and develop teamwork with the shared goal of making their boats faster.
Our home practice and race site - the “Holyoke Rows” Boathouse - is located on the Connecticut River. While our student-atheletes find the sport of rowing demanding, they enjoy the camaraderie on the team and take great pride in their achievements.
Allie Collins-Anderson ’16, a founding member of the Wilbraham & Monson Crew team, a captain and Most Valuable Player Award recipient, has gone on to row at Wellesley College, the NCAA Division III Champions.
