Dear WMA Middle School Parents,

The French National Contest (Le Grand Concours) takes place Wednesday, Feb. 21, for Grade 6 students and Wednesday, Feb. 28, for Grades 7 and 8. Students are well prepared and all they need is a good night's sleep and a sensible meal before the contest; come ready to shine. They will not use their own device, but will be in the computer lab up the hill. The contest is only 20 minutes long for Grade 6 and one hour for everyone else, and it will be done during French class.

Also, Madame Dubois has worked on an exchange program with a French school located in the south of France. Fifteen students will visit our school from Sunday, May 6 to Tuesday, May 8. We will be looking for families to host one or two French students. The optional trip to France for our students will happen during March Break in 2019. Madame Dubois will send more information soon. This is an amazing opportunity - do not let it pass you by without careful consideration. After all, could it really hurt to have a relationship with families from the south of France?

Head of School Brian Easler will join the Middle School faculty and students March 1 for a conversation on the challenges of living in a community. During his years as Head of School and as Dean of Students, Mr. Easler has helped hundreds find a better path through the social, physical and intellectual challenges school presents. He will draw on that hard-earned wisdom when he addresses our entire program.

Temporary changes to Advisory
Mr. Easler's address will kickoff a MS Advisory Program designed to encourage thoughtful conversations about the real, and often completely different, challenges faced by the three grades. Students will meet by grade to discuss how they can be more supportive of one another, and how they can avoid unnecessary tensions.
