The No. 1 element that makes WMA distinct is our students. They come from 32 nations and 13 states. Whether you're looking for a private school in the Massachusetts area or elsewhere, you'll find that WMA is ready to help grow students' minds. 

Rooted in an interdisciplinary curriculum, WMA's Upper School Academic program teaches its students to think critically, to engage actively, to write clearly and to reflect often. Strongly committed to the educational values inherent in a residential community, the Academy has designed its program to nurture every aspect of an individual’s growth.

Distinguishing curriculum strands and programs include: the Center for Entrepreneurship, Economics & Finance (CEEF), STEM, Global Scholars, Global Leaders and a rich international travel program available to all students.

AP courses (24 in total) and Honors courses (18) are offered in most disciplines, and are designated on the transcript.

The WMA Middle School provides an educational and developmental opportunity in a comfortable and safe setting, surrounded by a lush campus and state-of-the-art facilities. Many of our educated and experienced staff live on campus and call WMA home, some raising children on our grounds while all strive to provide a similarly nurturing but rigorous environment for the students who matriculate here.

Athletics: We believe that the experiences gained from physical activity benefit our students and play a significant role in allowing them to develop the skills, attitudes and habits necessary to build a strong mind, body and spirit. Our coaching staff's extensive experience as collegiate and professional players and coaches and their belief in teamwork lead teams to victory on and off the field. Global Scholars: Since 2004, the Global Scholars program has provided a select group of extraordinary students opportunities for extra-curricular intellectual enrichment, including monthly lectures, special speaker series, and cultural events, which engage them in important scholarly dialogue about global issues.

The Global Scholars experience incorporates research, travel, and study abroad opportunities. All Global Scholars create and defend an in-depth independent Capstone Project concerning a global issue, culminating in a public presentation of their work.

The Global Leaders Program creates an opportunity for students to seek challenges, think critically about local and global issues, and engage in their community through service. The program distinguishes itself by focusing on fulfillment the Academy’s mission: creating a transformational experience where students become challenge-seeking citizens and leaders of an evolving world.

While engaged in this program, students will find themselves building and honing their leadership skills and networking connections that will assist in their path at WMA and beyond.

The members of the Student Government have the overall responsibility of providing student input for decisions that affect student and community life. They are the voices of the student body and plan and carry out school-wide activities in conjunction with the Deans Office. The Student Government consists of class representatives and an elected chairperson. Representatives also serve as class officers.

Additionally, Student Government members serve on the Rules and Discipline Committee with elected faculty members. The Rules and Disciplinary Committee reviews any recommendations for changes in school policy and those are forwarded to the full faculty for endorsement at the end of each academic year. The committee is also responsible for hearing discipline cases in which a student is liable for dismissal and for making recommendations to the Head of School for final action.

Wilbraham & Monson Academy students can engage in 66 organized clubs and activities, including 28 varsity athletic teams. These opportunities for development of personal and group interests plays into WMA's mission of being a transformational experience where students become challenge-seeking citizens and leaders of an evolving world

Wilbraham & Monson Academy strives to bring a private school education to exceptional, well-rounded students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend. We have a tremendous respect for the significant personal and financial sacrifices families make to ensure their children have an outstanding education.

We are committed to making WMA accessible to families of varied economic backgrounds and recognize that many families who might not expect to be eligible for financial aid do qualify. If you feel your family cannot afford the full tuition, during your admission process we encourage you to also apply for a financial assessment to determine if you are eligible for Financial Aid.

College Counseling is an integral part of the educational program at WMA. We view ourselves as teachers and advisors rather than placement officers, and strive to support our students and families by providing accurate and up-to-date information and personalized guidance throughout every phase of the college search and application process. Our program is designed to equip our students to take the leading role in their own education and to nurture self-reflection, independent thinking, resourcefulness and resilience - qualities that will serve them well in college and beyond.

First Year Foundations is designed to help Grade 9 students understand themselves as individuals, understand their role in a global community, and make informed choices related to their health, interaction with others and daily responsibilities.
