We are thrilled to welcome you to campus in August! Please complete the travel to WMA form by Friday, Aug. 1, to help us prepare for your arrival. We will organize shuttles after Aug. 1.

✈️ Arrival Expectations

• New International Students traveling alone may arrive to campus on Monday, Aug. 18.
• New International Boarding Students and Middle School Boarding Students should plan to arrive on Tuesday, Aug. 19.
• New Domestic Boarding Students should plan to arrive on Saturday, Aug. 23.
• All returning Boarding Students can move in on Friday, Aug. 22 and Saturday, Aug. 23.

🚐 Shuttle Transportation

WMA will provide shuttle service for students only from:

• Logan Airport (Boston, Massachusetts)

• Bradley Airport (Hartford, Connecticut)

• Union Station (Springfield, Massachusetts)

Shuttles will be available on:

• Monday, Aug. 18
• Tuesday, Aug. 19
• Friday, Aug. 22
• Saturday, Aug. 23

Shuttle pick up times (estimated):

• 9 a.m.

• Noon

• 3 p.m.

• 6 p.m.

Unfortunately, we cannot shuttle parents, guardians or families to campus.  If you're flying into JFK (New York), we can assist you in hiring a private driver.

The store is open during academic hours on weekdays. Stay tuned for a more specific schedule during Opening of School weekend as the academic year approaches.

Boarding students will live in one of three dormitories - Rich Hall, Smith Hall or Wallace Blake Hall.

Laundry

Boarding students have the option to do laundry in the dorm or subscribe to a laundry service with E&R Laundry Service (a service you pay for independently). E&R is based in New Hampshire and comes to campus twice per week. You can find more information here:

Moving into a dorm for the first time often creates questions regarding what you should bring and what you are allowed to have in your dorm room. Please use this list to guide you.

Bring Your Own Device for Academics

IT continues to provide a robust network to accommodate many wired and wireless devices. Community members are responsible for maintaining their personal hardware and personal Operating System (OS). IT can help students diagnose their technology issues, but it is the student’s responsibility to transport or arrange repair services for their device. Student devices will need to meet the following set of requirements:

· Chrome browser to access: Various web-based applications like Gmail, Canvas, PowerSchool.

· The ability to connect to Wi-Fi for academic use. Ethernet is also available in the dorms

· WMA will be using Google’s Docs, Sheets and Slides

· Printing will be done through PaperCut Printing

Software WMA Provides:

· Students will be given a WMA Google Workspace for Education Suite account which includes WMA Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets and managed Google services

· Teachers will use Canvas and PowerSchool to administer assignments, communications, collaboration, etc.

Supported Academic Devices:

· WMA supports Windows and Mac devices. (iPads and Chromebooks are not supported for Upper School academic use.) The College Board has transitioned to digital testing for AP exams, PSAT 10, PSAT/NMSQT and the SAT. Students taking these tests will do so through the College Board’s Bluebook exam app and will need to use a device that meets the College Board’s requirements for testing. Please note that the College Board currently does not allow personal Chromebooks. At WMA, all Grade 10 and 11 students take the PSAT, and all students enrolled in AP courses are required to take the corresponding AP exams. As a result, students must have a compatible device to meet these testing requirements.

Excluded from Academic use:

• Kindle, Nook, cell phones (iPhone, Android, ...)

Devices Not Allowed on the WMA Network:

• Wireless Routers, Access Points (AP), Network Switches, Smart TV’s, Amazon Echo, Google Home, Apple HomePod
