The sport of volleyball originated in Holyoke, Mass., in 1895 but is just now achieving the type of popularity in the U.S. that it has received on a global basis, where it ranks behind only soccer among participation sports.

After spending the 2009 season at the club level, the boys' program became an official varsity sport in 2010. The 2010 team had a very successful season. WMA earned the No. 1 seed for the Founding Four Tournament. The Titans defeated NMH 3-1 in a semifinal before losing in the championship match.

In 2011, as the No. 3 seed of the Founding Four Tournament, WMA again won its semifinal before falling in the final.
