The goals of the English Department are to expand students’ horizons in reading, thinking, and writing; to introduce them to the world’s best writing in fiction, poetry, drama, and all forms of non-fiction; to help them gain mastery of the tools needed to write well; and to recognize excellence and to seek it for themselves. Seminar-style classes oblige students to be prepared, engaged, and ready to participate fully in class discussion.  An intensive focus on writing – including weekly writing workshops – ensures that students are well prepared for the rigors of college.

News

At school meeting, Ambassador Prosper encouraged WMA students to make a difference in the world.
Jeff will be performing original songs along with a presentation by current WMA students.
Garfield Ding '14 and Kirill Gudkon '14, who will attend Trinity next school year, spoke glowingly of the lecture given by Trinity Professor Xiangming Chen.
Coach Mannix will coach a team at the Mary Kline Classic in May.
Mikey put in a fence at a cemetery in his hometown to earn his Eagle Scout Award.
