Faculty Recommendations
From Director of Library Services Valeri Wallace
From English Chair Meg Lenihan Hutcheson
Book name: "American Dirt"
Author: Jeanine Cummins
From Ms. Hutcheson: "JRoh recommended this book to me, and it was a page-turner. This novel was about a mother and son - who for terrible reasons beyond their control - had to flee Mexico and migrate to the U.S. The story covers their journey as they jump trains to travel up through Mexico, telling a harrowing tale of love, betrayal, desperation and survival. I think this book is a great read for anyone who wants to understand better people who might cross borders - even illegally - to save their life, and poses some great moral questions about what you would do if you were in the same situation."
